Pica Peru Culinary Vacations begin in the dining rooms of respected Lima restaurants. Traveling from acclaimed culinary nooks (huariques) to gourmet restaurants, you sample the diverse flavors of Peruvian food. You meet the chefs, hear the stories, and learn the historical influences behind Peruvian cuisine. Then you travel to one of two countryside destinations: the beachside town of Mancora or the lush Sacred Valley and Cusco. There, in a combination of interactive Peruvian cooking classes and sightseeing, the stories of Peru's food and culture come to life.
The Lima-Mancora Vacation starts with a culinary tour of Peru's capital city. Meeting chefs, visiting markets, and tasting the dishes of acclaimed chefs allows you to experience the depth of Peru's cuisine before heading off to the beach town of Mancora, where leisurely days start with seafood-intensive, Peruvian cooking classes and end with seaside meals. Classes are conducted by a professional chef who teaches skills and recipes that can be reproduced anywhere in the world.
Lima–Sacred Valley & Cusco: Four days of touring acclaimed Lima restaurants start off this Peruvian cooking vacation. You meet chefs, visit markets, and taste the sophistication of Peruvian cuisine. Then, you're off to the fertile Sacred Valley, where a combination of Peruvian cooking classes and visits to cultural sights fill your days. The professionally-taught classes draw on both ancient and modern techniques. A visit to Machu Picchu tops off your stay in the Sacred Valley. Then the cosmopolitan city of Cusco awaits with a farewell dinner.
